Every member is Verified — reviewed by us within 48 hours of signup, or ID-checked via Stripe, before they can send or receive messages. Members who've been vouched for after actually meeting someone earn a Gold badge. We're keeping this small and vouched-for while we're a young community. And because the app is designed around actually meeting — not endless swiping — we hold back new faces until you've connected, so your attention stays on real people.

Verification tells you a person is real. These habits keep the first meet safe:

• Meet in a public place the first few times — a café, a bar, a busy park.
• Tell a friend or family member where you’ll be and who you’re meeting.
• Arrange your own transport there and back, so you’re never dependent on someone else to leave.
• Stay in control — know your limits, and keep an eye on your drink.
• Trust your instincts. If something feels off, you’re allowed to leave, at any point, with no explanation.

Two things live right in the app for when a meet doesn't feel right, or you just want an out. Both are entirely yours to use — we don't watch, and we don't act on your behalf.

• Safe Exit — one tap gets you a fake incoming call to excuse yourself with, a text to your emergency contact, a ride, or 000. You choose which; nothing fires unless you press it.
• Health Guardian — an optional check-in timer for while you're out. If you don't check in, it's a private nudge to you, on your own device — not a signal sent anywhere, and not something we monitor.

Neither tool means anyone is watching in real time. If you're ever in immediate danger, call 000 directly — don't wait on an app.

After a meet, confirming "home safe" deletes the location you shared for it within 48 hours. If you don't confirm, it's deleted automatically after 7 days either way.

Agreeing to something once doesn't mean agreeing to it again, or to more. You can change your mind about a meet, a plan, or anything else at any point, without needing to explain why — and without it counting against you.

You’re never stuck with an interaction that isn’t working for you.

• Block — instantly remove someone so they can’t contact or see you again.
• Report — flag behaviour that breaks our rules; our team reviews every report.
• Unmatch — quietly end a connection whenever you choose.
• Community rating & three strikes — members hold each other accountable, and repeated breaches lead to removal, with a fair right of appeal.

Some things get you removed, fast. There is no place on Elara for harassment, threats or violence; sexual exploitation or any involvement of minors; non-consensual sharing of images or information; hate; or scams and financial exploitation. We act on serious reports and, where appropriate, cooperate with the authorities.

Safety isn’t only about who you meet — it’s about your information too. Your ID is never shown to other members, your private conversations with Elara are never shared, and you can see, edit, and delete your data at any time. When you delete, it’s gone. See our Privacy Policy for the detail.

Elara is your openly-AI coach and a place to think out loud — but she isn’t a therapist, a doctor, or an emergency service, and she’ll never pretend to be. If you’re going through something heavy, please reach out to a professional or someone you trust.
