Verification, honestly
A few straight answers about how ID verification actually works.
If I verify with ID, do you see or keep my document?
No. Your ID document and selfie go straight to Stripe Identity, our verification provider, for a live check — we never see or store the document itself. Elara only ever receives and records the outcome: verified or not, and when.
Can I still use an alias or display name for privacy?
Yes. Verifying your identity behind the scenes doesn't require showing your legal name on your profile — your display name is yours to choose, and it's completely separate from whatever name is on your ID.
How does verification work?
Two levels. Verified — we review your account within 48 hours of signup, or you can ID-check via Stripe if you'd rather not wait. Either gets you Verified, which lets you send and receive messages. Gold — after you've actually met someone on Elara and they vouch for you, your badge upgrades to Gold. Both tiers are shown on your profile so others know what the badge means.
What if the 48-hour review is taking longer, or I'd rather not wait?
You can always ID-check with Stripe instead — it's instant, and Stripe never lets us see or keep your document. If you'd rather not use either the default review or Stripe, email proof to verification@elaradating.com.au (from your account, once you're in) and flag it there for manual review.

You've already got what you came for — real people, actually met. Elara is the part that's entirely up to you: a personal, real-time relationship coach, there only if and when you want her.
